| Abstract | Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich have performed a successful attack on several new models of cars which use wireless ignition systems instead of a physical key to start the car. The attack works by extending the range of the communications between the car and the key, essentially tricking the car into believing that the wireless key is within range. Ten car models from eight different manufacturers were proven to be susceptible to the technique used by the researchers. |
